Comfort Food Too

The paintings evoke the mood of a country afternoon tea, community and conversation, and move on to include the city, motherhood, step parenting and the quest for a decent latte. Farago uses recycled and affordable materials and paints on vintage wallpaper, fabrics, plywood and opshop finds. She paints images of teacups and butterfly cakes, suggesting the ideals of country taste and life. On geometric patterns she paints images of city living, a café latte, European style sweets. Farago uses the vessel, represented by a cup of tea or a latte, to symbolise the sustenance of these everyday substances.
